With the final selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings took a flyer on Washington point guard Isaiah Thomas, who averaged nearly 17 points and more than six assists as a junior but was deemed too small for the NBA at 5-foot-9.

Thomas earned All-Rookie honors in 2011-12 and kept forcing his way into the starting lineup despite his defensive liabilities.

He manned the position for most of three seasons before leaving in a sign-and-trade deal with the Phoenix Suns in July 2014. Sacramento got Alex Oriakhi and a trade exception in exchange for trading the restricted free agent.

In three seasons with the Kings, Thomas averaged 15.3 points, 4.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and a steal in 29.1 minutes per game, shooting .447/.360/.857.

In February 2015, Thomas was sent to the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade that also included the Detroit Pistons.

He is under contract in Boston through the 2017-18 season.
