Honorable Mention: Mike Brown

Years Active: 2005 to 2010, 2011 to 2012, 2013 to 2014
Team(s): Cleveland Cavaliers & Los Angeles Lakers
Regular Season Record: 347-216 (.616)
Postseason Record: 47-36 (.566)

Not everyone loves Mike Brown as a head coach, but he could be successful in the modern era. The Princeton Offense has principles that could produce an efficient attack, and his 2016-17 experience will help him dearly.

For those unaware, Brown will spend the 2016-17 season as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors.

Brown reached the playoffs in six of his eight seasons as a head coach, and made it beyond the first round every time. That includes trips to the 2007 NBA Finals and 2009 Eastern Conference Finals with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Brown also led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 41-25 record in 2011-12—good for the No. 3 seed—and the 2013-14 Cavaliers to a nine-win improvement.

Some have accused Brown of being a puppet for great players such as LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. A year with the Golden State Warriors will help him develop more of a voice as a leader, however, and should also provide him with new ideas for his system.

This is contingent upon his earning rave reviews during his time with the Warriors, but if that happens, then the 46-year-old Brown would deserve another shot at a head coaching gig.
