5. Orlando Magic

Not everyone loved what the Orlando Magic did during free agency. What’s undeniable, however, is that Orlando has built a roster that’s better equipped to win in the present than it was during the 2015-16 season.

Though some of the moves were admittedly confusing, Orlando is a much more talented team than it was in 2015-16.

Orlando parted ways with Scott Skiles and hired Frank Vogel—a Top 10 head coach—to be his replacement. That alone put Orlando in the Top 5 discussion for this list, as Vogel has two Conference Finals appearances on his resume already—and he’s only 43 years of age.

Orlando then traded Victor Oladipo for Serge Ibaka, which was a statement that the Magic were focused on winning now.

The Magic proceeded to sign coveted center Bismack Biyombo to further shore up the defensive interior. It landed D.J. Augustin on a cheap to create depth at point guard, traded for Jodie Meeks to improve its 3-point shooting, and signed Jeff Green for his athleticism and versatility.

No one really knows how everything will fit together in Orlando, but it’s clear that Vogel has an intriguing roster to with work.
