No One Will Be Traded

Even as the Lakers have assembled a talented core of young players, rumors are flying left and right of the team potentially trading away some of that talent to obtain superstars who will expedite the franchise’s journey back to championship glory.

  • In this offseason alone, players like Jimmy Butler, Russell Westbrook, DeMarcus Cousins and Paul George were all mentioned in pre and post-draft trade rumors in connection with the Lakers, most of which required the team to deal at least two players between Russell, Ingram, Clarkson and Randle.

While some fans clamor at the opportunity to immediately add star power to the team, the Lakers have learned their lesson about going all-in on superstars (see the Dwight Howard fiasco of 2012) and have instead adopted the process of developing a young nucleus to compete in the future.

Because of this, the team will refrain from its past ways and won’t deal any of their young stars in a get-rich-quick scheme.

Having just assembled this core, Jim Buss and company understand that they have to give it a chance to develop chemistry and grow together and will do just that.
