2. Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have already met with Waiters in free agency, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, but ultimately decided against offering him a contract. But a lot has changed between now and their initial meeting.

The Nets made aggressive offers towards restricted free agents Allen Crabbe and Tyler Johnson, only to have both offers matched by their respective teams. This left the Nets, a team with little to no ability to build through the draft for the next few years, starving for young talent.

The Nets are a team with holes at every position and could use additional playmaking alongside newly signed point guard Jeremy Lin. Waiters fits in with their timeline and can provide them with an infusion young talent.

While there are no easy answers in Brooklyn, taking a flier on a young talented player isn’t a bad way to proceed.
