Dwight Howard is one of the greatest players of this generation. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has a resume that should book him a ticket to the Hall of Fame, including five All-NBA First Team selections and a 2009 NBA Finals run that he anchored and led.

Just two years removed from being named to the All-NBA Second Team, however, Howard’s future is in doubt.

The eight-time All-NBA honoree has experienced a tumultuous two seasons since the previously alluded to 2014 Second Team nod. Injuries limited his availability during the 2014-15 regular season, and his own team turned on him in 2015-16.

In the face of skepticism, Howard signed a three-year deal worth $70 million with the Atlanta Hawks.

In 2016-17, Howard will look to prove that Atlanta’s investment was wise. It’ll be his first time back in the Eastern Conference since 2012, which is reason enough to believe that he could be wildly successful in Atlanta.

Though some are concerned, Hawks fans should be confident in this signing; Howard is going to feast in 2016-17. Here are five reasons why.
