From 2004 to 2012, Dwight Howard called the Eastern Conference home. Then a member of the Orlando Magic, he made six All-Star Game appearances, received five All-NBA First Team selections, and won three Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Now back in the Eastern Conference with his hometown Atlanta Hawks, Howard is on the cusp of a breakout season.

Howard made another two All-Star Game appearances in the Western Conference, which brings his career tally to eight. Unfortunately, back and shoulder injuries have slowed him in recent years, and a team-wide mutiny phased him out of the offense in 2015-16.

Due to the nature of his production and efficiency, however, Howard is in line to return to star status with an organization that wants him there.

For all that’s been made of his decline, Howard finished 2015-16 as one of the most statistically prolific players at his position. He was No. 2 in the NBA in field goal percentage, No. 4 in rebounding, and No. 3 in offensive rebounds per game.

If Mike Budenholzer can motivate Howard defensively and get him ideal looks on offense, Atlanta should send its hometown star to the All-Star Game.
