(Western Conference Semifinals, Game 6)

The Spurs and Lakers became quite the rivalry during the early 2000s. After the Spurs captured their first title in 1999, the Lakers eliminated them twice on their way to winning three straight championships in 2000-02.

Heading into Game 6, the Lakers were hoping to extend the series to a Game 7, while the Spurs were seeking to dethrone the three-time champions.

The game was relatively close going into the final 12 minutes, with the Spurs leading by a 78-69 margin. In that final frame however, it was no contest, as the Spurs ran the Lakers off the court, outscoring them 32-13 en route to a convincing 110-82 win.

After being on the wrong end of two previous playoff encounters against the Lakers, no one was more pleased with the victory than Duncan.

"“We’ve been put down by these guys the last couple of years,” Duncan said via ESPN. “More than ending their reign, that felt a lot better –ending their season and going on.”"

Duncan had his signature performance of the series, scoring 37 points on 16-for-25 shooting to go along with 16 rebounds and four assists.
