1. Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers aren’t in a position to offer what the Sacramento Kings may be looking for. The reality is, all the Clippers are only missing is a starting-caliber small forward who can create their own offense—the definition of Rudy Gay’s game.

Los Angeles should do everything it can to add Gay to a roster that already includes Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Chris Paul, and J.J. Redick.

For as brilliantly as Gay would fit in Los Angeles, there isn’t much that Doc Rivers could offer. Griffin, Jordan, and Paul are untouchables in a trade for Gay, and losing J.J. Redick would severely hurt the fluidity of the offense.

Furthermore, the two most attractive assets in a trade can’t be dealt until December: Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers.

The good news for the Clippers is that there are a number of tradable assets on the roster. Cheick Diallo, Brice Johnson, David Michineau, and Diamond Stone all have value, which opens the door for a three-team deal to be made.

It’d likely cost the Clippers two of those players and a draft pick, but with Paul entering the final season of his contract, Los Angeles needs to aim high.

By landing Gay, the Clippers would have the talent necessary to end the second-round curse and give that favored team up north some trouble.
