This Move Was Personal For Wade
One of the reasons why Wade entertained the idea of leaving the only franchise that he has played for was because of the financial sacrifices he made for the good of the team.
In 2010, he restructured his contract so that the Heat would be able to sign both LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
In 2014, Wade opted out of his contract again, but the move backfired once James decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. As a result, Wade took another considerable pay cut, as the Heat scrambled to put together a competitive roster in light of James’ departure.
Based on those sacrifices, Wade was hoping the Heat would return the favor by offering him a deal that would make him the highest paid player on the roster — which surprisingly had never happened despite the fact that he’s the most important player in the team’s history.
After Wade didn’t receive the kind of respect and loyalty he felt that he deserved, he decided to return to the place he once called home. Simply put, Wade felt disrespected by the Heat, while the Bulls jumped through hoops (no pun intended) to acquire his services, which more than likely played an important role in his decision to come to the Windy City
