On Wednesday, July 6, one of the most glorious eras in NBA history officially came to an end. A first ballot Hall of Famer concluded his tenure with the team that drafted him after 13 legendary seasons.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Dwyane Wade will say goodbye to the Miami Heat and sign with the Chicago Bulls.

The greatest player in franchise history has left the franchise.

When the Heat selected Wade at No. 5 overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, most analysts labeled the move as a reach. Wade had built a solid reputation, but he did so with the Marquette Golden Eagles—a school that wasn’t exactly producing a healthy dose of NBA players.

13 years later, the notion that Miami was reaching for Wade at No. 5 is nothing short of insane.

Wade is a three-time NBA champion with a Finals MVP award, eight All-NBA selections, and 12 All-Star Game appearances. He added a scoring title, three All-Defensive Team selections, and countless franchise records to his tally.

Wade leaves Miami as the franchise leader in points, assists, steals, games played, minutes, field goals made, and free throws made.

Unfortunately for Heat fans, the face of the franchise will be going home. Wade, who was born on the south side of Chicago, will be joining the organization that he once forged an incredible rivalry with.

Heat fans have every right to mourn Wade’s departure, but there are just as many reasons to reflect with pride. For help doing so, here are the 10 greatest moments of D-Wade’s Heat career.
