NBA: Teams That Should Trade For Marcin Gortat

4. Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards have an opportunity to make a mutually beneficial swap. For the Bulls, the return would be center Marcin Gortat, who’d become an immediate starter under Fred Hoiberg.

For the Wizards, it’d be Taj Gibson, who would bring the defensive tenacity that Scott Brooks loves to see from his big men.

For Chicago, the primary void along the roster is the absence of a genuine rim protector. Gibson fills that role to an extent, but he’s more of a versatile defender than a deterrent along the interior.

Gortat has the size, mobility, and toughness to be the type of interior presence that Bulls fans tend to love.

Offensively, Gortat would be a fine complement to All-Star guard Jimmy Butler and rookie wing Denzel Valentine. Both Butler and Valentine are gifted facilitators with great size, and Gortat is the quality dive man who can help them run the pick-and-roll with efficiency.

Butler needs immediate help in Chicago, and Gortat is the type of player who can provide it on both ends.
