Honorable Mentions

Charlotte Hornets

  • It stands to reason that Marcin Gortat would fit wonderfully under head coach Steve Clifford. The assets that the Charlotte Hornets have to offer simply don’t line up with what the Washington Wizards need. Jeremy Lamb and a draft pick may be a nice starting point, but would it be worth it for Charlotte with a Top 10 selection—Frank Kaminsky—already on the roster? Would Lamb be enough compensation for a Top 15 center?

Cleveland Cavaliers

  • The Cleveland Cavaliers desperately need a true rim protector. Marcin Gortat would fit the bill. Gortat can also be the pick-and-roll threat that neither Kevin Love nor Tristan Thompson have yet to become. The question is, would Gortat and Thompson be able to play together? More importantly, couldn’t Cleveland get more for Love than Gortat?

Dallas Mavericks

  • The Dallas Mavericks make as much sense as any. Dirk Nowitzki needs to play alongside a rim protector, and Marcin Gortat fits the bill. Unfortunately, Dallas isn’t exactly rich with tradable assets. Would Justin Anderson, Dwight Powell, or a first-round be enough? Or worth it?

Phoenix Suns

  • The Phoenix Suns are in prime position to reunite with Marcin Gortat. There are an abundance of tradable assets and enough depth to survive a potential multi-player deal. With both Tyson Chandler and Alex Len leaving uncertainty in their wake, the Suns would benefit greatly from adding Gortat. A non-contender just wouldn’t be the right situation for him.
