The Atlanta Hawks were hurt in free agency last year. They lost a vital piece of the puzzle that helped them finish at the top of the Eastern Conference, DaMarre Carroll. Yes they slipped down the tree a little, but they were still a very competitive outfit this year.

The problem for Atlanta? They are in a position to lose another franchise cornerstone player that made them so good. Al Horford was a free agent got offers from all over the league before agreeing to a four-year, $113 million deal with the Boston Celtics.

Atlanta also traded Jeff Teague away to Indiana in a three-way trade where they netted the 12th pick of the 2016 NBA draft, which they used on Taurean Prince, from the Utah Jazz.

Atlanta has also agreed to re-sign Kent Bazemore, while Mike Muscala is coming off the books.
