Derrick Rose: Top 5 Moments With The Chicago Bulls
1. May 6, 2011: Bulls at Atlanta Hawks (Game 3 of Eastern Conference Semifinals)
It would not be right unless the No. 1 spot on this list was from Rose’s MVP campaign. The Bulls were facing the Hawks in the second round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs, and after splitting the first two games at the United Center, Chicago would need to win a road game in order to steal back home-court advantage.
Much of the talk coming into this game was about how Rose was dealing with a nagging left ankle sprain. But in a game the Bulls had to have, it was fitting that Rose had one of, if not the most memorable performances of his career.
Whether it was taking his defender of the dribble or hitting shots from the perimeter, Rose was one step of the Hawks’ defense the entire night.
When it was all said and done, Rose scored a career-high 44 points (including 17 in the first quarter) on an efficient 16-for-27 shooting from the field and 4-for-7 shooting from distance. The Bulls cruised to an easy 99-82 win and a 2-1 series lead.
Hawks guard Jeff Teague — who had the unenviable task of trying to guard Rose — could only marvel at what he had just witnessed.
"“He’s tough to cover anyway,” said Teague, via ESPN. “But when his jump shot is falling, he’s the MVP.”"
