3. Guarantee Jonas Jerebko

Jonas Jerebko will have his contract guaranteed on July 3.  The Boston Celtics need to let this happen. Jerebko is a low-cost, solid backup player to have at the power forward position.

The Celtics don’t have a huge amount of quality players in this position. Right now it’s just Jared Sullinger, who played more at center last year, Amir Johnson, who is also not guaranteed until July 3, and Jordan Mickey, who is still very green.

The Celtics did draft Guerschon Yabusele this year, but he only put up 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game on a really bad team in the French league.

Ben Bentil is a promising 6-foot-9 power forward from Providence. He is a good deep shooter with great quickness.

The problem is that these two need time to develop and Boston needs to have a power forward now.

Jerebko played 80 of a possible 82 games last year, averaging 14.7 minutes, 4.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. These numbers are not startling but compared to Amir Johnson, who is on more that twice Jerebko’s contract, they are good enough to keep him on the team as insurance.

The David Lee experiment failed, so until Danny Ainge is able to trade for a better player, Jerebko needs to be in Celtic green.
