5 Roster Moves The Boston Celtics Need To Make
2. Trade Marcus Smart
In the NBA it is always good to strike when the iron is hot. Marcus Smart is a very good perimeter defender who can struggle on offense. I believe that Boston just drafted a player with that same skill set in Jaylen Brown.
Brown is a good prospect, probably better than Smart, but the rest of the NBA has seen what Smart has to offer and so if Danny Ainge wanted to get a deal done to get a power forward who performs both ends of the court, now is the time.

Boston is pretty heavily stocked with guards at the moment with Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley holding down the starting positions, as well as third year guard James Young and last years’ rookie R.J. Hunter. They also have recent draftee Brown, Smart and second round pick Demetrius Jackson.
When I see that listing of guards, there has to be a trade in the air and I believe that the only one that Boston would give up who has NBA experience is Smart.
He would probably not be traded by himself, since the value of what Boston would get back would be too low. However, I am sure that Ainge could put together a package of players that will interest someone.
