4. Re-Sign Courtney Lee

It is a sign of how good that they were that some of the best free agents not named James or Durant are coming out of Charlotte.

I think if Charlotte were able to get the band back together for next season they would easily be top four seed in the Eastern Conference.

On draft night they went and got insurance at shooting guard by trading for Marco Belinelli, possibly because they knew that Jeremy Lin would be chasing more money and opting out.

Belinelli is not a starting shooting guard in the NBA. He is a good backup and a great sharpshooter, but not a starter.

Charlotte traded away one of their future young core in P.J. Hairston to the Memphis Grizzlies in order to get the quality player that is Courtney Lee.

Lee only has a career average of 9.6 points per game but it was his defense that helped Charlotte thrive.

Lee is a very good perimeter defender. The NBA is going towards small-ball and this involves a lot of perimeter shooting. If other teams are struggling to get these good shots off because of Lee’s defense then Charlotte will be a lot more competitive.
