3. Dwight Powell

Last season, Dwight Powell came on strong for a shorthanded Dallas Mavericks team, averaging 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game on 52.5 percent shooting through the month of December.

Another potential bargain bin gem, Powell is a talented youngster who has largely flown under the radar outside of Big D…despite possessing the hang time that would get him noticed by the U.S. Air Force’s radar.

Unfortunately for Powell, head coach Rick Carlisle started shortening his minutes halfway through the season, with Powell’s numbers dropping to 4.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game on 44.3 percent shooting in 2016.

Still, this energetic 24-year-old displayed the kind of jaw-dropping athleticism and undeniable hustle that any team in the Suns’ position should be willing to take a chance on.

With Phoenix looking at two 18-year-olds manning the power forward position, Powell is the kind of player who could come in and give positive minutes at the 4-spot without taking too much playing time away from the rookies.
