3. Upgrade Jodie Meeks

Jodie Meeks is a quality backup shooting guard. Over 418 games, he has averaged 9.9 points per game. The problem for Meeks is getting him on the court. Over the past two seasons with Detroit, Meeks has missed 101 of a possible 164 games.

For a player earning $6.5 million per year, that is not what the team is after.

Depending on how the Brooklyn Nets go in the free agency period they may be looking to take on contracts to get them up to the NBA salary cap minimum. Meeks has one year left so if he fails to make the court too often, Brooklyn will only have him until July 1 next year.

As for a replacement for Meeks, I like Dion Waiters. Waiters is in the same core age group as most of the rest of the team at 24.

Waiters has really worked on his defense since arriving at Oklahoma City and is also capable of going off for 15 to 20 points on any given night

I also like Allen Crabbe of the Portland Trail Blazers who had a 10.3 point per game average with a slash line of 46/39/85.
