2. Sign A Better Backup Point Guard

No disrespect intended to Steve Blake, but the man is 36 and lacks the explosive quickness to guard players such as Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving.

Detroit also just traded away their other young point guard in Spencer Dinwiddie to Chicago for power forward Cameron Bairstow.

Reggie Jackson only played 30.7 minutes per game last season, so there is a fair amount of time for the backup to be able to make a statement.

I would like to add a third Australian to the team to go with Aron Baynes and Cameron Bairstow and have Detroit sign Matthew Dellavedova. Dellavedova is fresh from winning the championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers and would fit nicely into the Detroit system

Dellavedova averaged 24.6 minutes, 7.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per night for the Cavaliers.

When Jackson is off the court, Detroit would have an excellent defensive point guard, one who wore Stephen Curry tightly in last year’s Finals and they would have a excellent distributor on the offensive end, keeping the offense going.

Randy Foye could also be an excellent addition, despite his play with the Denver Nuggets and then the Oklahoma City Thunder last year. What Foye would bring to the team is leadership and experience and his 37 percent three point field goal percentage as well.
