5. Move Away From Anderson Varejao And Marreese Speights.

With the drafting of Damian Jones from Vanderbilt, surely the Warriors don’t need Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Marreese Speights, Anderson Varejao and Jones.

Jones is a 7-foot center who will develop into a good NBA rim protector. He will not get many minutes this season, however, unless Ezeli goes elsewhere or Bogut gets traded or Golden State  can’t lure another rim protector.

More from Hoops Habit

That being said, Ezeli, Speights and Varejao were horrible in the last two games of the finals, Ezeli having a plus/minus for the two games of minus-26 and Speights only played just less than seven minutes for the combined two games.

He is a 6-foot-10 center with range on a team that has enough long range shooters.

For some reason, Steve Kerr chose to Varejao for more than 15 minutes for the combined two games. He was plus-8 in Game 6 and minus-9 in Game 7.

The worst thing about the Varejao move is that Jason Thompson was waived. Golden State needs all the cap space they can get next season and Thompson is taking up $6.8 million of it.

What has Golden State got out of the deal? They will get nothing because Varejao should be cut as soon as possible.

Ezeli will play better next time but Golden State need to move Speights and Varejao off their roster, especially if Golden State can land that other quality big.
