1. Re-Sign Ian Mahinmi

So four pieces of the starting five are in place for Indiana. Jeff Teague will be the starting point guard, Monta Ellis will be the starting shooting guard. At the forwards, Paul George will start at small forward and Thaddeus Young will start at power forward.

It sounds like a traditional starting lineup.

The only position still up for grabs at the moment is the center. Ian Mahinmi started there last season and did a fantastic job, having a career year at the age of 27.

In 72 games, Mahinmi averaged 25.3 minutes, 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. His 9.2 points were scored at 59 percent from the field.

To put it into perspective, Mahinmi’s career scoring and rebounding averages are 4.3 per game each.

My guess is that if he re-signs with Indiana his role will diminish. Yes, he will still start but Young has a career average is 6.9 rebounds per game. This will have an impact on Mahinmi’s numbers.

Mahinmi will be able to concentrate more on his defense, making Indiana a hard team to score against again.
