1. Find A Backup At Small Forward

Now that the Lakers have selected Brandon Ingram with the second pick of the 2016 NBA draft the Lakers need to look after him. Currently the Lakers have Anthony Brown, who is not NBA ready.

In order to make the transition easier from college to NBA, the Lakers need to have a player in the mix who takes some minutes away, but will understand that he will fade away to the bench by the end of the season.

Now that the Lakers have moved on from Byron Scott, the rookies and the younger players have a chance to shine.

Despite the fact that D’Angelo Russell is also a No. 2 pick, he had less pressure on him than Ingram will for two reasons

The first reason, Kobe Bryant. There was so much attention on Kobe last season that Russell was only under the spotlight of a late lottery pick, not a No. 2 overall selection.

The second reason, Russell was a surprise No. 2 pick. We did not expect as much of him as we will of Ingram who has been heralded as a potential No. 1 pick.

I would try and get a Kent Bazemore-type player, a guy that will play hard but will understand Ingram will take his time by the end of the year. A large, one-year contract would entice him.
