The Dallas Mavericks are already involved in free agency rumors. Attracting Mike Conley, Hassan Whiteside or both would completely change their identity in a good way.

The 2015 NBA Draft has passed and free agency is the next big event on the horizon. Enter the Dallas Mavericks.

The past five offseasons have been filled with failed attempts at signing superstars and disappointing seasons due to thrown together rosters. In the final years of Dirk Nowitzki’s career, the Mavs are hoping to build one last contending team.

This season, they’ve already established their primary free agency targets and are set to avoid Kevin Durant, the best player on the free agent market.

This offseason, the team will have needs at two different positions: point guard and center.

More from Dallas Mavericks

While they already have Wesley Matthews locked in, they’ll need to re-sign Dirk Nowitzki and look for a small forward on the market, as it looks like Chandler Parsons might be ready to move on. Luckily for them, the small forward market will be rather deep this summer.

While Deron Williams was one of their best players last season, especially in clutch moments, the Mavs want to find a guard who is younger. Zaza Pachulia had his moments at center, but there will obviously be much better centers available this summer.

With that in mind, the team has identified Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley and Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside as their primary targets.

Let’s dig a little deeper and see how each player would impact the team and what the Mavs could do to attract them.
