25. LaMarcus Aldridge
Portland Trail Blazers 2006-15, San Antonio Spurs 2015-16
LaMarcus Aldridge was the second overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in 2006 out of Texas, but he was packaged up with a second-round pick in 2007 and traded to the Trail Blazers on draft night for forward Viktor Khryapa and the draft rights to fourth overall pick Tyrus Thomas.
Advantage, Portland.
Aldridge has advanced in his career to become a three-time All-NBA pick and a four-time All-Star in Portland.
The Trail Blazers got past the first round for the first time in Aldridge’s career in 2014 before they went down in five games to the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs in the Western semis.
Aldridge was a hotly pursued free agent in 2015 and eventually signed a four-year, $84.1 million deal with San Antonio, looking to reach deeper in to the playoffs for the first time.
Aldridge was terrific in adapting to a reduced role with the Spurs, earning his fifth All-Star appearance and a spot on the All-NBA third team.
But San Antonio was upset in the second round by the Oklahoma City Thunder and once again, Aldridge was denied a chance to see what a conference finals might look like.
In 10 NBA seasons, Aldridge is averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 34.9 minutes per game on .487/.257/.802 shooting.
The current tally on Aldridge’s playoff career:
NBA Finals: 0-0
Conference Finals: 0-0
Conference Semifinals: 0-2
First Round: 2-4
