3. Caris LeVert

Perhaps this is a bit of a reach for the No. 34 pick in the draft, especially for a team that will likely trade this selection away or use it on a draft-and-stash player, but let’s not forget that if not for his injury concerns, Caris LeVert would be a bonafide first round pick.

A 6’7″ shooting guard out of Michigan, LeVert’s last two seasons were cut short by stress fractures in his left foot, with the poor swingman undergoing three surgeries in a span of 22 months. The red flags should be pretty obvious at this point.

However, if there were any team with reason to believe its NBA training staff might be able to get the best out of a 21-year-old stud like LeVert, it’s the Suns and their warlock medical team. Don’t forget, they kept Steve Nash and Grant Hill going long after anyone expected, and those two immediately saw their bodies fall apart once they left Phoenix.

The Suns’ training staff can’t work miracles, and again, Phoenix probably won’t be using this pick on anyone anyway. But we should at least mention such a well-rounded, versatile athlete who averaged 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season on .506/.446/.794 shooting splits.

If he can manage to overcome those injuries early in his basketball career, the upside and versatility is all too evident.
