4. Zhou Qi

If the Warriors want to make a serious run at Kevin Durant and/or Dirk Nowitzki, preserving as much cap room as possible is paramount. The Dubs could look to more polished prospects who can come in and produce right away with so many bench players hitting free agency this summer, but they could also go the draft-and-stash route to make themselves major players in free agency.

If that’s the case, Zhou Qi could be a terrific option. A 7’2″ behemoth from China, Qi has spent the last two years playing for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association and could very well be available when the Dubs are on the clock at No. 30.

A two-time CBA leader in blocks, Qi’s size — including a massive 7’6.25″ wingspan — would make him an obvious asset on the defensive end as an elite shot-blocker and rim deterrent.

At the moment, Qi is so thin he needs to run around in the shower to get wet, but he’s also only 20 years old. A few years of maturing overseas plus a standard NBA weightlifting regimen would help him bulk up a bit.

Qi is a very smart player, he’s a solid athlete for his size and his post game is built on excellent footwork. His passing abilities shouldn’t be overlooked for any big man, let alone one standing at 7’2″.

There’d obviously be quite an adjustment period playing in the NBA against taller, more physical players.

But Qi stands out as a high upside draft-and-stash candidate that Golden State should strongly consider at No. 28, especially with Festus Ezeli hitting restricted free agency and one year left on Andrew Bogut‘s contract — a contract that would need to be dealt in a bid for KD anyway.
