2. Sign D.J. Augustin

Minnesota has an extremely talented, yet inexperienced and shallow backcourt. Behind Rubio and LaVine, there is not too much.

I would counsel an experienced player to join the team who can contribute off the bench. Ricky Rubio is a brilliant point guard, of that there is no question. His shot however,  can be questioned.

Since being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Denver Nuggets, Augustin has had a career revival.

At Oklahoma City, Augustin was played out of the rotation by rookie Cameron Payne, whose up-tempo style was more of what they were looking for in Russell Westbrook‘s relief.

In the 34 games he played this season for Oklahoma City, Augustin averaged 15.3 minutes, 4,2 points and 1.9 assists per game.

With Denver, Augustin played 28 games, averaging 23.6 minutes, 11.6 points and 4.7 assists.

His shooting percentages even improved. He was better from the field (38 percent to 45 percent), better from three (39 percent to 41 percent) and better from the line (76 percent to 82 percent).

Augustin appears to play in a more traditional way, struggling a little without the ball. In Oklahoma City, it appears that he was tasked with getting the ball out of backcourt and then getting it to Kevin Durant, who would make the play.

Minnesota does not have the experienced stars like Oklahoma City does, so Augustin would be able to run the team when he is on the floor.
