2. Move On From Eric Gordon

Eric Gordon, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard, was one of the many injury issues for the New Orleans Pelicans this season. Gordon only managed 45 games, but in those games he averaged 32.9 minutes, 15.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per outing.

These numbers are not those of a player who is earning $15.5 million, however. For New Orleans to succeed, it needs to move on from Eric Gordon.

Gordon has now played five seasons with the Pelicans and not once has he played more than 64 games.

Gordon is currently taking up too much of the salary cap for the return that he is offering. Sure, when he is on the court, Gordon is fantastic. You cannot score while dressed in a suit.

If Gordon does want to stay in New Orleans, then he will have to sign a much more team-friendly contract.

However, New Orleans holds the cards here. Free agency starts on July 1 and they have the sixth pick in the upcoming draft on June 23.

If they draft Buddy Hield, then the writing is on the wall for Eric Gordon.
