8. The Winning Streak

This is one of the most ridiculous statistics you’ll ever read or hear. There have been incredible winning streaks before, but never has a team opened an NBA season in as dominant a manner as the Golden State Warriors Warriors were able to in 2015-16.

And no, there isn’t an ounce of hyperbole to be found in that statement.

The Warriors began the 2015-16 regular season by winning an all-time record 24 consecutive games. There have been longer general winning streaks, but never has a team gone 24-0 to begin a season.

In fact, never had a team gone better than 15-0 to begin a season—and the Warriors added nine more wins to that tally.

Perhaps most impressively, this feat was achieved with an interim head coach, Luke Walton, who stepped in to fill the shoes of injured full-time head coach Steve Kerr. And, history considered, it’s unlikely to be matched or improved upon by a team with a full-time coach any time soon.

Not surprisingly, that wasn’t the only streak the Warriors embarked upon in 2015-16. We’ll get to that soon.
