16. Boston Celtics – Taurean Prince (Baylor)

Boston is another team with multiple first round picks and will likely deal for veteran talent. At 16 they have an opportunity to add to the wing by selecting Taurean Prince. Prince is a solid player on both ends of the court.

Prince, 21, is an older player in this year’s draft that has a good offensive game. His shooting percentages dipped in his senior season from his excellent junior year, but Prince has the ability to score inside and outside. He averaged 15.9 points in 30.6 minutes per game, despite his inconsistencies.

Prince has the ability to score off the dribble and coming off screens. He plays like a veteran on the offensive end, taking advantage of mismatches in the post, finishing in transition and operating with the ball in his hands. He’s a player that is going to impact the game on offense.

Prince already has the makeup of a NBA player, standing 6-foot-8 and weighing 220 pounds. His size makes him versatile with the ability to guard multiple positions. He will jump passing lanes to start fast breaks, doesn’t get backed down easily in the post and can defend the perimeter. He is also a factor on the defensive glass, with a 14.8 defensive rebounding rate.

The Celtics could use a player like Prince off the bench. He excelled in his junior season at Baylor as a sixth man, and transitioning into the seventh or eighth guy for the Celtics adds depth to their already-talented roster.
