12. Utah Jazz – Wade Baldwin IV (Vanderbilt)

The Utah Jazz are a team that has talent and depth at every position, and drafting Wade Baldwin IV improves the depth at point guard. Coupled with the anticipated return of Dante Exum, Baldwin is a tall, athletic point guard that will contribute on both ends of the court.

Baldwin, 20, is a playmaker offensively with strong passing skills. He averaged 5.2 assists in 30.4 minutes per game in his second season at Vanderbilt. He had an increased responsibility on the offense end with a 25.3 usage rate and turned out a 33.7 assist rate.

Baldwin has also improved as a scorer. He had a good slash line of .431/.422/.799 on his way to averaging 14.1 points per game. His shooting touch has improved over his college career and should continue to develop at the NBA level. He excels in transition by moving the ball and finishing.

Baldwin is a skilled defender that is only going to get better on that end. His 6-foot-4 frame and 6-foot-10 wingspan gives him great length and the ability to defend if he gets switched on a bigger player. He also uses his quickness to stay in front of opposing players.

Utah gets deeper at the point guard position by adding Baldwin. He has a good basis for an all-around game and will only improve as he adjusts to the NBA game. Baldwin’s potential to become a solid all-around player could make him a steal in the late lottery.
