3. DeAndre Bembry

With P.J. Tucker entering the final (non-guaranteed) year of his contract and T.J. Warren coming off a season-ending foot surgery, it’s safe to say a little padding at the small forward position could be helpful. Meet DeAndre Bembry, one of the few non-draft-and-stash products the Suns should consider if he’s still untouched at No. 28.

Because he played three years at St. Joseph’s in college, Bembry didn’t get the exposure he probably deserved, but make no mistake about it: he’s one of the smarter and more fundamentally sound players in this year’s draft.

A 6’6″ small forward, Bembry averaged 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game his junior year, shooting 47.9 percent from the field despite converting only 26.6 percent of his three-pointers. He can get to the basket and he’s a stout, versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.

With a high basketball IQ and elite passing ability, Bembry would bring a well-balanced skill set to the 3-spot as a potential replacement for Tucker down the line. His perimeter shot obviously needs some work, but if Bembry is available at No. 28, he should be one of Phoenix’s top options.
