5 Roster Moves The Phoenix Suns Need To Make
4. More Tyson Chandler to Houston.
To say that the Tyson Chandler deal has been one of the biggest mistakes made by Phoenix would not be far from the truth. They offered the then 32-year-old $13 million a year for four years.
Just one year in and Chandler has dropped his points per game by three (10.3 to 7.2), his blocks per game have almost halved (1.2 to 0.7) and his rebounds have dropped by almost three a game (11.5 to 8.7).
I remember watching Chandler in the London Olympics in 2012, where he was part of the Team USA gold-medal team. He was a force, getting put-back dunks and out muscling the opposition.
This season he was a shadow of himself. He did not impose himself on games and the leadership that Phoenix wanted from him was not there. He did, however, have some good games, showing that he can still perform at the highest level.

These games were too far apart for a team that needed a veteran presence to step up.
Why does Chandler go to the Houston Rockets? Houston are going to be team in need of a center if Dwight Howard opts out, which is expected. This will clear $23 million of salary cap space, more than enough room for Chandler’s contract.
Houston also has the very ball-dominant James Harden and, unlike Howard, Chandler will be content to grab rebounds and make the occasional play.
To replace Chandler would not be that hard. Phoenix are expected to draft power forwards or centers as it is.
They also have Alex Len who could start at center. My money would be to also sign a veteran presence who likes to work hard. Zaza Pachulia would fit well and be worth a lot less of the salary cap than Chandler for similar numbers.
