NBA Draft analysts have been unable to successfully pin down which position Juan Hernangomez will play at the next level. He’s athletic enough to spot minutes at the 3, and is perfectly suited to play power forward in the modern NBA.

Regardless of which position he primarily spends his minutes at, Hernangomez has the tools to be a matchup nightmare.

Hernangomez compares well to Chicago Bulls forward and Liga ACB titan Nikola Mirotic. He may not be elite in any one area, but he offers enough in virtually every phase of the offensive game to keep opposing defenses on their toes.

A consistent 3-point shooter who excels at crashing the offensive glass, Hernangomez has the traditional stretch 4 skills.

What makes Hernangomez so intriguing is the fluid athleticism that he displays both in the half court and transition. He moves well without the ball, can play above the rim, and could be developed into a quality defensive player.

With the toughness to shake the European stigma, Hernangomez could become a starting-caliber forward in the NBA.
