The Minnesota Timberwolves have just one pick in this year’s draft, but it’s valuable to say the least.

After tons of draft success over the last three years, the Wolves will look to keep it going with their fifth overall pick in the 2016 draft.

They already have both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 Rookie of the Year award winners on their roster in the form of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Minnesota has also been successful outside the top 10 as they drafted Zach LaVine 13th overall in 2014, and acquired Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad in a 2013 draft-day trade for Trey Burke.

Their track record is impeccable as of late, but they’ll have to keep it that way this year with just the one pick to work with. Looking at their starting lineup, it’s stocked with talent so they could really go a multitude of directions.

But it seems like what would really put them over the edge and into possible title contention is one more impact guard. With Dieng as their starting center and Towns and Wiggins as the forwards, they’re set there.

At guard, things are a little less clear. They have Ricky Rubio at point guard, but he’s been the subject of trade rumors for the last few seasons. LaVine is the starting shooting guard and is capable of playing point as well, but is perhaps more suited to stay where he is.

And other than these two, the only other guard on the roster is point guard Tyus Jones and it’s tough to tell what his role will be in the future.

In this article we’ll go over three prospects, all of them guards, who the Timberwolves should target in the 2016 NBA Draft.
