Denver Nuggets : Draft Key In Rebuilding Process
By Gary Gorski
Jaylen Brown, California
The No. 7 pick could offer Denver an excellent opportunity to pick up Jaylen Brown. At 6’7″ with a mature frame and nearly 7-foot wingspan, he has the physical tools to play right now in the NBA and he’s only 19 years old.
Perfectly poised to grow alongside Emmanuel Mudiay, Brown would offer not only someone who can run in transition, attack the rim on offense and eventually shoulder the largest share of the offensive load but also has the ability to be the wing defender Denver sorely needs.
Brown did not have the freshman season many hoped for at Cal this year, where he averaged only 14.6 points per game, and that will likely keep him out of the top three on draft day.
But paired with a good coach like Mike Malone, he could reach the potential many scouts were enamored with and become the true star player Denver has lacked in recent seasons.
