Few players are rising up draft boards in as rapid a manner a Providence Friars power forward Ben Bentil. More than just the college complement to Kris Dunn, Bentil is in the process of convincing scouts and executives that he’s deserving of a first-round selection.

Bentil’s appeal to scouts and general managers can be found in one phrase: stretch 4.

Bentil is somewhat undersized at 6’8″, but he has a powerful 229-pound build and a near 7’2″ wingspan. He’s not necessarily explosive athletically, but he’s nimble in the half court, can get out in transition, and moves well without the ball.

The foundation for Bentil’s success, however, is found in his offensive versatility.

Bentil’s range is still improving, but he made 52 3-point field goals during his sophomore season. He’s lethal from midrange, isn’t afraid to shoot when he’s open, and has potential as a straight-line finisher who can attack closeouts, drive the lane, and get to the free throw line.

In terms of a pro projection, Bentil could thrive in a similar capacity to players such as Brandon Bass, Marcus Morris, and Patrick Patterson.
