Indiana Pacers

Mike Conley and Jeff Teague have been in the conversation as possible targets for the Indiana Pacers as the offseason approaches. Conley would obviously be the top choice over Teague or any other free agent that Indiana could realistically sign.

The match between the player and team make sense considering Conley is from Indianapolis. Moreover, the Pacers have needed a dependable point guard for some time now. George Hill has been productive, but it has shown that he isn’t the answer to get them to the promised land. In fact, the Pacers really haven’t had a good point guard since Jamal Tinsley back in 2008

Team president Larry Bird has made it clear that he believes the defense and leadership on the floor are two things that the team is in dire need of. Conley made NBA All-Defensive Second Team back in 2013 and still displays an ability to contain the talented point guards around the league.

The biggest attraction of adding Conley would be pairing him with three-time NBA All-Star Paul George. Similar to New York, the Pacers also have a promising young big man in Myles Turner that would create a potential three-headed monster in Indy.

If they were able to sign Conley, the Pacers would still have to add scoring off the bench to be put into the conversation as championship contenders. The playoffs, however, would be a routine visit for a Conley/George combination that would be one of the strongest in the Eastern Conference.
