5 Roster Moves The Sacramento Kings Need To Make
4. Take Best Available Player At No. 8
Sacramento is not in a position to draft according to positional needs. They need too much at almost every position. They need to simply take a leaf out of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ playbook and take the best available player left in the draft.
It would be nice for Sacramento if Skal Labissiere was available. He is just under 7’0″, so he could go into the rotation with Cousins, Cauley-Stein and Koufos but is not strong enough to make a huge impact in his first season. His upside, however, is projected to be good.
Denzel Valentine is not a big man, which is what Sacramento is looking for, but this combo guard from Michigan State played 24 games, averaging 19.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.
He appears to be NBA-ready and if Sacramento decides that they want a big then Valentine could be a valuable trade piece.
Marquese Chriss from the University of Washington is the best option for this team if he is still available. He averaged 13.7 points and 1.6 blocks per game for the Huskies.
He has his weaknesses like most draft picks, but they can be worked on. His rebounding is not great and he fouls out of games regularly. NBA coaches are able to work on these flaws with more intensity than college coaches to improve them.
