5 Roster Moves The Sacramento Kings Need To Make
3. Get More Depth At Power Forward
Sacramento started a number of games with Willie Cauley-Stein at center and Cousins at power forward. This is great in that Cousins has quickness at 6’11”, which makes him almost impossible for the conventional power forward to defend.
Unfortunately, this where the depth at power forward really ends. The Kings list two players as power forwards according to Basketball-Reference: Quincy Acy, standing 6’7″, and Eric Moreland at 6’10”.
Neither of these players made a big impact last season, with Acy playing 69 games for averages of 12.7 minutes, 4.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Moreland played only eight games, averaging 5.8 minutes, 1.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
Vlade Divac and the rest of the Sacramento front office should be thanking their lucky stars that Cauley-Stein worked out so well in his rookie season.
Getting another big who can be effective is crucial to Sacramento. This will give Dave Joerger more options against teams that like to play big such as Utah, Oklahoma City and San Antonio.
If Sacramento can steal a game or two off these teams, then they have a better chance of seeing playoff action.
