Atlanta Hawks

Picks Owned: 21, 44, 54

The Atlanta Hawks have an interesting offseason ahead of them, with Al Horford and Kent Bazemore becoming free agents. Furthermore, the Hawks have nobody signed with a guaranteed contract past the 2017-18 season. This offseason is crucial for the Hawks, and it begins with the draft.

The Hawks could be nearing a deal to shake up their roster already, including acquiring Nerlens Noel from the 76ers. It’s just a report at this point, but the Hawks must be exploring future possibilities to build towards future success.

They can do this while retaining their talented frontcourt players in Horford and Paul Millsap, but the Noel rumors could mean a greater rebuild is coming. Everything should be on the table this offseason for the Hawks.

The 21st pick in the draft could go in any direction. With Horford’s free agency, the Hawks could go after a center like Damian Jones or Cheick Diallo. They could go with a scorer on the wing, such as Malachi Richardson, DeAndre Bembry, Malik Beasley or Taurean Prince.

It’s tough to predict who will be available at 21, but the Hawks will have plenty of options. The Hawks should look to add to their frontcourt, especially with the possibility of Horford leaving.

Like several other teams around the association, the Hawks need to establish a plan for the future. That plan needs to include who they are going to retain to build the franchise around, and what they need to do to build around their franchise piece(s). That process begins entering the draft.
