2. New Orleans Pelicans

Unlike the Suns, the Pelicans do not have an opening at power forward. In fact, it’s occupied by one of the NBA’s best albeit oft-injured players in Anthony Davis. But that doesn’t mean Marquese Chriss wouldn’t be able to carve himself a role on the team and improve a ton while doing it.

  • Chriss has the skill set to a be a small forward if necessary and on a team with Anthony Davis and

    Omer Asik

, he would probably find himself there fairly often. His rebounding woes, coupled with his shooting range, likely make him a better fit as a small forward anyway, at least for now.

And while he develops into his eventual position at power forward, he’ll also be learning from the best even more so than if he went to the Suns. Davis is arguably the best big man in the league when healthy and Asik has made an entire career out of being able to rebound well.

The Pelicans aren’t loaded at guard but they do have enough to potentially avoid addressing the position with their No. 6 pick.

Although players like Kris Dunn, Jamal Murray and even Chriss’ Washington teammate, Dejounte Murray, could be considerations for the Pelicans’ first pick, Chriss has enough upside that they could pass on all of them. And if they do, the former Husky will be in quite a nice situation.
