Few prospects have tantalized the masses quite like California Golden Bears wing Jaylen Brown. An explosive athlete with a powerful build, Brown has overcome his raw fundamentals with the most intriguing word of all: upside.

If the Los Angeles Lakers believe that Luke Walton can maximize Brown’s potential, a future star could arrive at Staples Center.

Brown has an outstanding build for a shooting guard at 6’7″ and 223 pounds with a 7’0″ wingspan. That’s also an ideal combination of size, strength, and length for a small forward, which creates the potential for positional versatility.

Whichever position Brown plays, it’s all but certain that he’s going to be a handful from an athletic perspective.

The hurdle with Brown is that he doesn’t have any developed skills. He has elite potential as a slasher, but is loose with his handle; he’s capable of shooting with his feet set, but has an erratic release point; he’s even competent from the post, but not at an NBA-caliber level.

If the Lakers are playing the long game, however, selecting Brown would be an understandable move.
