Draft Projection: Lottery

There’s a widespread expectation that Deyonta Davis will be one of the first 14 players selected in the 2016 NBA Draft. The possibility exists that he slides slightly further down the board, but it’s quite unlikely.

Davis is all but unanimously projected to be a lottery pick, and it’s safe to believe that he will be.

Davis is the type of high-upside big man whom general managers tend to covet. He has a skill that can keep him on the floor—his shot-blocking—and has a high enough all-around ceiling to invest a lottery pick in.

The fact that there are teams in need of a player cut from Davis’ cloth further solidifies that belief.

The Orlando Magic at No. 11, Phoenix Suns at No. 13, and Chicago Bulls at No. 14 are all in the market for a rim protector. The Denver Nuggets at No. 15 and Boston Celtics at No. 16 can say the same, which creates the range for Davis.

Even if Davis does fall out of the lottery, it’s hard to imagine his falling any further than No. 16.
