2. Boston Celtics

I mentioned earlier that being undersized hasn’t been a problem for many players in the NBA. That rings true for perhaps no one more so than Buddy Hield’s prospective teammate, Isaiah Thomas.

At just 5’9″, Thomas dominated this season and led the Celtics to two victories against the fourth-seeded Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs, one of which featured a 42-point outburst from the vertically challenged point guard.

Now can you imagine a backcourt led by Isaiah Thomas and Buddy Hield? It has to be a tantalizing thought for the Celtics at No. 3 overall.

More from Hoops Habit

Hield is absolutely going to be a shooting guard at the next level and it just so happens the Celtics may have an opening at that spot.

Evan Turner is an unrestricted free agent and has expressed his desire to return to Boston, but it’s not a guarantee he does so, according to Comcast SportsNet New England. If he doesn’t return, they will have only Avery Bradley and R.J. Hunter left at the position.

Bradley is more apt to play point guard, plus he’s more of a defensive specialist rather than a scorer like Hield. As for Hunter, his role in 2016-17 is unclear since he averaged just 8.8 minutes per game last season.

Hield could be the scorer Boston needs alongside Isaiah Thomas. Don’t get me wrong, Thomas can do plenty of that on his own, but to have someone like Hield to take the pressure off would be a huge difference maker.

With a player like Thomas playing alongside him, Hield would be immediately set up for success as a member of the Celtics.
