Patrick McCaw, G, UNLV

Just a look at Patrick McCaw’s stat sheet show that he is a jack of all trades — with swarming perimeter defense as his calling card.

The UNLV sophomore guard basically did a little bit of everything for the Running Rebels, averaging 14.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep.

However, what sticks out most are the 2.5 steals per contest, good for sixth among all Division I players last season.

Despite being an undersized guard at only 180 pounds, McCaw’s tenacity and motor has made him a tremendous on-ball defender. For this reason, some analysts have him going in the late first round, but McCaw may still be around when the Lakers come up to pick at number 32.

If the team can snag him, they’ll land a player who at the very least will bring energy and stifling defense every night and could become a Swiss army knife off the bench and a reliable Sixth Man of the future in the best case scenario.
