Jamal Murray, PG/SG, Kentucky

The Nuggets have had one glaring need since Carmelo Anthony‘s departure in 2011: someone to take over games and lead the charge in scoring. Jamal Murray is capable of doing just that.

Murray averaged 20 points per game in his only season at Kentucky and did so while shooting 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point land.

And as a member of the Wildcats he was able to put up these huge numbers on big stages in the form of conference games and the NCAA Tournament. There should be no question in Murray’s ability to lead a team as he did so for one of the best programs in college basketball.

Murray would make for a deadly backcourt in Denver alongside Emmanuel Mudiay. With Mudiay likely running the point and Murray playing the 2, they would be one of the most explosive young guard combinations in the league.

Many mock drafts have Murray going in the top five, so this may be more hopeful than the next two options. But we can never rule anything out since Mudiay himself was projected by many experts to be a top-five pick before falling to the Nuggets at No. 7 last June.
