Easily the most heartbreaking moment of the 2016 NBA Finals was Kyrie Irving suffering a series-ending injury in Game 1. In the midst of a memorable clash with Stephen Curry, during which Irving matched the MVP’s level of play, Irving dislocated his knee.

In 2016, Irving is healthy again and has an unquenchable thirst for the success he believes he should’ve achieved a year ago.

There aren’t five players more dangerous in isolation than Irving. He’s an elite dribble-penetrator who can break any caliber of defender down and get to the rim for a crafty finish that looks like something you see in a video game.

The question is, can Irving hold his own defensively against the most explosive scorer in the NBA?

Irving has been shooting the lights out this postseason, which isn’t too much of a deviation from his career numbers. He’s also been competitive defensively, showing signs of potentially developing into an asset on that end.

The 2016 NBA Finals will be the ultimate test of just how far Irving has come as a player at 24 years of age.
